The Looking Glass symposium was held at Lahore University of Management Sciences on the 5th and 6th of August 2023. At the event, we were able to:
- Introduce the outputs of the project: We held a limited screening of the documentary series, panel discussions with community experts and consultants, and discussions on the resource pack with associated reflective activities.
- Showcase artwork: We curated an exhibition of the illustrations from the short story series and submissions from a call for artwork on themes of gender, violence, and history (incl. zines, sculpture work, postcards, and prints).
- Create a space for ownership: Different members from different gender minority communities were invited to take the stage and engage in dialogue with the general attendees of the event, speak about the project and their own work, and discuss the advocacy and policy work needed to address violence against gender minorities in Pakistan.
The event invited 6 panellists from different areas of development and advocacy work, business, law, and arts. The event was attended by 150+ across two days.
